Why Choose
Cape Canine Academy?

By choosing Cape Canine Academy you'll get to work with a professional member of the International Association of Canine Professionals, an Animal Behavior College Certified Dog Trainer, AKC CGC evaluator and certified therapy dog instructor who has dedicated their life to improving the lives of our dogs. We're fully insured, and regularly attend educational seminars so that we can continue to provide you with the best service possible.

Our Training Philosophy
Here at Cape Canine, we take a "whole-dog" approach to dog training. We look at your dog as a whole, living being and we understand that their behavior includes much more than just obedience.

Don't get us wrong, obedience is important, and it's something we'll teach you. But, in order to have a well-behaved dog, we need to focus on more than just obedience.

We work to build a solid foundation for your dog's behavior and mental state in order to ensure lifelong success. We'll take into consideration your dog's health and genetic drives so that we can set them up to be the best version of themselves, then we'll teach them how to make good choices and successfully live in our increasingly modern human world.

In each of our training programs you'll work one-on-one with our trainers so that we can help you learn how to keep your dog successful throughout the rest of their lives.

- K9 Caring Angels Therapy Dog Evaluator
Throughout the years I've been lucky enough to have some incredible dogs enter my life, and each and every one of them taught me something special. Now, I've dedicate my life to advocating for our dogs and helping them live the very best life possible. While working with me, you'll learn how to build and maintain a relationship with your dog that is built on trust and mutual respect, and your dog will get to have loads of fun along the way.

Grimm
Grimm is a 3-year-old German Shepherd with a gloriously goofy demeanor who's enthusiasm for life is unmatched. He forces us to venture outside of our comfort zones and is constantly reminding us of how to be grateful for the small things when life gets tough.
While chasing a frisbee is his ultimate goal in life, he also enjoys hiking, splashing in rivers, and shoving his soccer ball into your legs to get attention.

Together we've tried our hand at Barn Hunt, Sheep Herding, Lure Coursing, and tracking. He continually helps push us outside of our comfort zone to try new things, and we couldn't be more grateful to have such a wonderful partner in crime.

Max

Max is a 12-year-old mixed breed who loves nothing more than showing off his tricks in exchange for a snack. He's a perfect example of a wise senior dog, as he's lived all over the country and with a variety of younger dogs who he's helped to teach dog etiquette to.

Max spent years teaching us, and challenging us when we needed it, and is now enjoying a well-earned retirement. Depite losing most of his vision, his energy is still that of a pup and you may occasionally see him tag along for lessons.

He enjoyed a long hike back in his day, but now is often found sunbathing, napping on the furniture, or pretending we forgot to feed him.
